Both Dr. Falzone and Dr. Brankin were recently recognized by the Surgical ReviewcCorporation as Surgeons of Excellence in Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery. This accreditation recognizes their commitment to a high standard of delivery of quality patient care using state-of-the art technology. To achieve SRC accreditation, healthcare surgeons undergo an extensive review process. Requirements include continuous patient care quality assessment while maintaining specific surgical volumes with robotic surgical equipment using best practice, and standardized operating procedures.
The term “robotic” can be misleading as robots don’t perform surgery. Robotic assisted surgery utilizes the Da Vinci surgical system. This system gives the surgeon an advanced set of instruments and highly magnified, 3D high-definition views in surgery. The small instrument size gives the surgeon the ability to perform what is called robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery.

Uterine fibroids are common growths within the uterus. These are benign (not cancerous) and almost never turn into cancer. Fibroids vary in number, size and location. They can cause pain and heavy or irregular periods. Some women will have no symptoms. The treatment options vary and depend on several factors. Your provider may incidentally find fibroids on your yearly pelvic exam or on an pregnancy ultrasound. The best way to find out if you have uterine fibroids is to make an appointment with your gynecologist.

Yes! There are many options for minimally invasive surgery that do not involve removal of your uterus. Some examples include removing fibroids (myomectomy), burning the lining of your uterus to reduce or stop your periods (endometrial ablation).
